EverLAN

This is 5 days late but whatever.

Everlan was pretty awesome this weekend. I pretty much played WoW the whole weekend, accentuated with some brief ownage sessions in counterstrike. I just got counterstrike the day before so it wasn't pretty.

There was some cool stuff there. A startup company, IZ3D, was there with their 3D monitor. I thought it was a little gimmicky but could be cool. www.iz3d.com Mountain Dew was a sponsor, and we each got 10 free dews ... that was the only liquid I had for the entire 3 day event... not healthy. I also picked up some pretty sweet leettiles, which are like scrabble pieces but have leet characters on them.

Other memorable moments were the ATi presentation, in which we got to see the "Miss Everlan" contest and a man licking "ATI" spelled out in Vegimite off of another man's chest for a video card. The mountain dew drinking contest was also pretty funny - this time it was in several rounds: In round one, the participants had to drink one mountain dew as fast as they could - if they were the fastest, they moved to round two, where they had to drink two mountain dews. By round three, the guys had already consumed 3 mountain dews, and they had to drink 3 more to win. The catch? They had to hold it in for 15 minutes. This was the funniest part - there's nothing like projectile mountain dew vomit over the audience.

The best thing about this weekend: I won a Radeon x1900xt!!!!!!!!!!!!! It wasn't even out yet so they couldn't say the name when they were giving away the door prizes!! OMFG!! Now I just need something to put it in...

Wooot!

Wow, I actually survived the first week back to school!

My schedule this semester I think is pretty good. I got 2 classes at night that are three hours long, but that's alright since it's only once a week. The lineup:

Critical Leadership Skills
International Operations Mgmt
Business Process Design
Entrepreneurial Business Plan Preparation
The Role of Marketing in Socially Responsible Firms

I think it's pretty solid. When I first got into the Leadership class I was originally assigned to, I started to freak out. The professor was so dull and unengaging I was literally getting angry that someone such as this was allowed to teach at the college level. Right after I got out of there I transferred to another section, which is going to be a LOT better. I'm on the waitlist tho, hopefully I get in since I need it for graduation.

Anyways, this weekend is a time to chill out before the storm and play computer games for 96 hours straight. EverLAN here I come!

project runway round 4

I just want to say how dumb the model selection method is for this season. Unless you win you are stuck with that model for the whole thing? LAME. Heidi keeps saying how it is a competition for the models as well, but with this method, it really isn't! Why would the WINNER ever change their mind after the model they just helped them win? Last season we got to see the different personalities and the interaction of the models and designers - now it's just like they are walking mannequins, they're irrelevant. That was some of the best stuff that made the show good!

And what's with these eliminations? Can you say RIGGED? I never realized this before I rented the season 1 DVD, but it clearly states that the judges make their decision "with input from the producers." That's the only reason I can think of that the eliminations have gone the way they have so far. I mean, Daniel Franco obviously didn't deserve to get the boot in that challenge. Last week, Guadalupe didn't either (as annoying as she is). I think the producers are trying to recreate that Wendy Pepper-type tension in the contestants, because Marla has NO BUSINESS being there. Especially after she copied that Chloe dress last week, she should have been struck down immediately for that! OMG!

Even though I bitch a lot, the show still is pretty good this season and I'll continue to watch. There are a lot more annoying people, but there are also a lot of talented people and I'm excited to see who wins.

Yep...

So as was predicted, World of Warcraft has pretty much taken over my life. The only reason I'm writing this right now is because the server is down for weekly maintenance. I start school again in a week and I really don't know what the hell is going on.

Oh well, anyone to put reality off for just a lil bit longer...

ZOMG how to play DURID IDK LOL!!!!!!ONE!!!111!!1

While I was looking for information on my Druid in WoW, I came across probably one of the finest compositions in leetspeak ever created:

It's a guide for Druids, but I think everyone can appreciate its literary qualities.

happy new year

So it's a new year. I haven't done the whole new year's resolution thing yet, so I guess my first resolution is to think of some real resolutions.

In probably the most depressing new year's ever, I spent the evening driving to store after store looking for World of Warcraft, but NO ONE had it! I guess that's a good thing so that there is a fresh supply of players and I'm not too late. After going to two best buys, target, a circuit city, a small boutique gaming shop and the walmart in westminster, I finally found a copy at the wal-mart at flatirons. It was quite an adventure. One thing I realized from that night is that customer service really sucks in the retail industry these days.

I was reluctant for a long time to get WoW because I had a thing against paying every month to play a game, but all the hype and talk about it convinced me. If it's a good game, I guess 15$ a month aint bad. I'd like to get the experience of a real MMORPG and see what it's like.

There goes the next 6 months of my life...
